The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.
The team did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, shared a set of images on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team drafted in the second round.
No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.
The receiver missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people injured. He was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
