News has broken that fan-favorite actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the latest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.
Lawrence and Hutcherson will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. Industry whispers indicate their cameos will take the form of a future-set scene, as the main film series concluded with their characters married and with children.
This signifies the sixth cinematic outing in the highly successful Hunger Games franchise.
Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a 2025 novel by author Suzanne Collins. It acts as the second prequel film after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Returning to the director's chair is Francis Lawrence, who directed the majority of the previous films in the series.
The film's story are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.
The film welcomes several accomplished actors in important characters:
Separately, Jennifer Lawrence stars in the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson stars in the sequel to the hit horror film Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
