The Prince of Wales plans to participate in the United Nations climate conference in Brazil in the coming weeks, as announced by the royal household.

Prince William and King Charles appeared together on Thursday night at a event preceding the environmental conference, which is set to be held in the northern Brazilian city of Belem.

The royal pair were participating in the scientific institution event, marking an unusual joint appearance at a environmental conference preliminary meeting arranged together with the United Kingdom administration.

Environmental Advocacy Commitment

King Charles has been a long-time champion of biodiversity preservation - and the Prince of Wales has assumed the responsibility, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be held in Brazil before the UN meeting.

Palace insiders have portrayed Prince William's attendance at the upcoming climate summit as taking on an significant responsibility in "environmental negotiations".

Previous Activities

The monarch and his heir, arriving together in the state Bentley, were greeted participants featuring environmentalists, researchers, climate change campaigners, foreign representatives and politicians.

This participation involved presentations alongside French leader Macron of France and other global statesmen at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in Monaco earlier this year.

Earthshot Awards Connection

The COP30 summit will dovetail with the the royal's sustainability recognition program, which will wrap up in the Brazilian city the day before he participates in the climate conference on 6 November.

Recently the William described the Earthshot finalists as "heroes of our time".

King Charles has been a prominent presence at past COP meetings, delivering the inaugural speech in Dubai for COP28, including the reminder: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".

"Throughout my life I've dedicated a substantial portion of my life trying to alert people to the existential threats facing us over climate change, global temperature increases and ecological decline," the monarch informed delegates.
