Suspected Harasser Inquired: 'Yet What If I Could Be Madeleine?'

A woman accused with harassing Kate McCann allegedly recorded her a recorded message which asked: "imagine I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, 24, who court testimony revealed has repeatedly asserted she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are on trial indicted with harassing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February 2025.

On Monday, the tribunal was told communication data and data retrieved from phones documented Ms Wandelt repeatedly asking Madeleine's mother for a DNA test during the past two years.

"I am not seeking money, I have a existence here in Poland, I just want to discover," the recording stated.

The tribunal was advised that by means of electronic messages, SMS messages and communications, Ms Wandelt asked for a genetic test, forwarded youth pictures to her phone in a effort to demonstrate a likeness to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and claimed to have "flashbacks" from a childhood with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an investigator with Leicestershire Police who gathered the data, told the court there "seemed to lack any replies" from Mrs McCann.
